Alison attended Ballarat High School and went on to Ballarat Teachers College where she qualified as a primary school teacher, and later a secondary school teacher. Alison would go on to complete a Bachelor of the Arts, a post-graduate Bachelor of Education and a Master of Education at the University of Melbourne.

Alison taught for 35 years, her final 19 at Ballarat Grammar School where she was the head of English. In 1997 Alison was awarded Life Governorship in recognition of the remarkable level of dedication she gave to education.  Whilst teaching full time she also had full time responsibility for the care of her twin sons and her husband, Alfredo, after he suffered serve brain damage in a work place accident. After retirement Alison continued to tutor students and wrote more than 20 English texts, the last nine published by Cambridge University Press.

Alison had also enjoyed participating in coaching sport and was a founding member of the Ballarat Pony Club, and her involvement was renewed when her sons joined up. Alison rode well into her sixties. Alison pasted away aged 84 in Ballarat on the 15th February 2019.

He obituary reads: Alison was a stalwart, generous educator to countless students, a highly-capable sportswoman and mentor to many athletes and equestrians, and a prolific author to the benefit of students of English.
Her tireless devotion to her family will be greatly missed. Sleep peacefully after so many years of selfless toil.  Alison was cremated and her ashes placed in with her beloved husband Alfredo at the Ballarat New Cemetery, Private F, Section 3/2, Grave 18.
