
The Ballaarat General Cemeteries Trust administers the
Ballaarat Old Cemetery established 25th February 1856
Ballaarat New Cemetery established June 1867
Ballaarat Cremetorium established May 1958
The Trust operates under the provision of the Cemeteries Act 2003 in the state of Victoria.
The Ballaarat Old Cemetery located in Macarthur Street Ballarat is situated approximatley 500 meters from the city's Lake Wendouree and botanical gardens. The lake was the home of the 1956 olympic games rowing. The cemetery is the resting place of many of Ballarat's pioneers as well as European and Chinese settlers from the 1850's gold rush days.
The Ballaarat New Cemetery is located in Lydiard Street North Ballarat and has the crematorium and general office sites within the cemetery grounds. The new Cemetery overlooks the City of Ballarat as well as surrounding country towns.
